CLASS OF 1975
A native Iowan and University of Nebraska alumnus, Lyell Bremser was associated with KFAB from 1939 until his retirement in 1984 when he was Vice-President and General Manager. He did play-by-play broadcasts for the University of Nebraska football games every season from 1939 until his retirement.
In the 1940s besides Husker football, he hosted the noon hour Man On The Street interviews, delivered evening sportscasts, and called boxing matches and horse races at AkSarben. Bremser became the program director in 1950, then station owner, buying KFAB with three others in 1954. He was General Manager in 1956 developing KFAB as a neighborly, reliable voice, and leading the station into astronomical ratings that were so strong that KFAB was ranked number one in the country by TV/Radio Age magazine (April 1981).
Lyell Bremser passed away September 4, 1990.
